Description |
| Patriot Warp series Solid State Drive (SSD) is the latest in storage technology. Using the state-of-the-art NAND flash chips and ultra-fast controllers, the Warp SSD Drive is available from 32GB to 250GB capacity delivering a blazing transfer speed up to 175MB/s read and 100 MB/s write. Compare to conventional disk Drives, built with 100% moving-free parts and housed in a vibration and shock resistance housing, the Warp SSD Drives provide a rock solid operating environment even during extreme working conditions, a perfect solution for a wide range of applications that require ruggedness, minimal power consumption, cooler temperature and silent operations. With reliability in mind, the Warp SSD Drives has 1.5 million hour mean time before failure (MTBF) and built in wear leveling technology in addition to the standard 2 year warranty to maximize the life span of the Drive and preserve your data integrity by automatic mark and block bad data cells. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Please DO NOT defragment Solid State Drive as it may shorten the life span of the product. Drive capacity may reflect some discrepancy limit to data reservation for wear leveling (built in error checking) and operating systems. Rated transfer speed may reflect differently from system specification, benchmark, Drivers, and operating systems. | These are really awesome. I've had OCZ core drives before and the experience was so bad I have to return it back due to extreme long latency causing system to freez up. The patriot drive had no issues at all, night and day difference. These are a bit slower compare to the advertised speed, I am benching about 150mb/ s or so instead of advertised 170mb/s "up to" speed. When read larger files, it felt pretty close to that speed. Regardless, fantastic product. If you are in the market for a solid state drive, DO NOT get the OCZ drives, get this instead! |

| Just installed it on my Macbook pro and has worked flawlessly. Leopard loads in under 25secs and XP in about 35secs. It is not a large ssd but if you have an external hd then your set. Very fast, you can tell the difference between my old 7200 rpm and this one. I payed $150 for it thru compusa. |
Don't Buy if you are looking for performance

| I bought this SSD for my new Dell Vostro , what a mistake. I cannot work 5 minutes without the computer stuttering. It just freezes and the HD light stays on for 5-10 Sec. I cannot watch a video on the web. It looks like it is because of these cheap SDD. I am going back to my regular HD. While I had it, it was very quiet. I used to hate the HD noise. |
just horrible stuttering

this SSD is based on the JMicron controller and thus only has 16K cache. When multitasking, it makes your system hang and stutter. just horribly.
Only intel SSDs have enough cache (256K) to avoid this problem. Do yourself a favor and only buy an SSD with enough cache. Right now thats only intel's X-25 series. Or dont buy anything and keep your HDD.

Poor performance overall

If you use Microsoft Outlook, DO NOT BUY THIS (OR MAYBE ANY) SSD. This is mentioned on Microsoft's website. I tried SP2 for Outlook 2007 but saw only minimal improvements.
My PC freezes for long periods (like sometimes 5 minutes) until the drive finishes writing.
I'm going back to my standard mechanical drive. |
Tech Support is poor

| I received this 64gb SSD and it was not functional, I tried to contact tech support but they were very confused. They thought it was something to get the machine on the internet. Then they wanted to pass me off to Microsoft Tech Support. Apparently their website is a bunch of links to tech support sites. It does not appear like there is a real site at all. I will try a different brand name drive next time. Perhaps I just got a lemon, but I am concerned about the tech support. |
